Edna Karr Marching Band (New Orleans, Louisiana)

December 06, 2020 by Monique Constance

The art of band is the art of war - Christopher Herrero

When I began teaching at Edna Karr High School, I learned very quickly the school’s heritage of legacy and pride within New Orleans and beyond.

A part of that legacy is their band program, #TeamBustEmUp (@officialkarrband) directed by my friend @chalupa504 - who was the first Latino Head Section Leader at Jackson State University. What he and the assistant directors do with and for our students is nothing short of amazing.

Much love to these men for their dedication to our youth.  They mentor and produce some of the best musicians in the world.

Here’s some footage from Mardi Gras 2020, the last time we were outside 😩. Created by yours truly.
